We hosted a Health and Wellness Fair and able to engage with 7 community partners to give information to 400 students and many staff. We created a 'passport' that students used to make sure that they actively engaged with all booths and learned something new. We also made 400 fruit kabobs as a team the day before the event and provided them to students who filled their passports. We met our goal of addressing what being healthy is in a holistic way, by addressing mental, physical, and spiritual health.
We also held a Smoothie and Yoga event that not only provided students with a healthy snack but also taught them a new positive coping skills for stress management, YOGA. We created a video and gave out handouts with the sun salutation routine so students could continue using the practice at home. This event also was used to advertise the upcoming Health and Wellness Fair. As a team, we made over 100 smoothies in one class period to prepare for the event. We also spent many after school and lunch sessions to choreograph, practice and film the yoga routine ourselves.
